HOPE SIMPLE BOBBLE HAT

Just imagine how snug you'll be in this bobble hat this Winter! 

The lush texture on this easy-knit bobble hat is simple to knit! This beautiful texture is a repeat pattern of simple knit and purl stitches, known as Double Moss Stitch (US Double Seed Stitch).
This easy knitting pattern is perfect for new knitters... and the repetition of this stitch pattern makes this a relaxing meditative project for experienced knitters too! 

Choose a contrast colour or a stick with a same colour pom pom to top your hat. Both look great!

This knitting pattern has instructions for the following sizes:
Newborn, 0-2 months, 2-8 months, 8-24 months, 2-5 years, 6-12 years, Teen/Adult S, Adult M/L 

The hats shown here have been knitted in Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran.  Choose this yarn or any other aran (US Worsted) weight yarn that recommends 5mm (US8) needles.

To achieve a neat defined Double Moss / Double Seed stitch tension in your aran/ worsted yarn this hat is worked with needles that are one size down from the recommended size. You will therefore be using 4.5mm (US7) needles for the main hat.   

You will need:
1 pair of 4mm (US6) single pointed needles / or 5 X 4mm (US6) dpns
1 pair of 4 ½ mm (US7) single pointed needles / or 5 X 4 ½mm (US7) dpns
Darning/tapestry needle
Pom Pom maker

Main Hat
yarn required: (excluding pom pom)
25 (40, 50, 65, 75, 85, 100) gms Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran

Pompom
Yarn required:
Newborn / Pom Pom Diameter 4cms (1 ½ in) = 5gms
2-8m, 8-24m, 2-5yrs, 6-12yrs / Pom Pom Diameter 5cms (2 in) = 10gms
Teen/Adult S, Adult M L / Pom Pom Diameter 6cms (2¹/₂ in) = 15gms

Alternative recommended merino yarns are:
Valley Yarns Superwash Merino Worsted / Sublime Extra Fine Merino Worsted / Lang Merino+ Aran / Rico Essentials Soft Merino Aran

When choosing alternative Aran (US Worsted) yarns refer to the yardage/meterage below:

Main Hat
49 (79, 98, 128, 147, 167, 196) yards
45 (72, 90, 117, 135, 153, 180) metres

Pom Pom
Diameter 4cms (1 ½ in)   = 10 yds / 9m
Diameter 5cms (2 in)       = 20 yds /18m
Diameter 6cms (2¹/₂ in)  = 30 yds / 27m

Separate detailed instructions are included to knit this hat either:

FLAT on a pair of SINGLE POINTED needles / or IN THE ROUND on DPNs
