This classic aviator hat knitting pattern has cosy earflaps to keep your little ones toasty warm!
Choose to knit this hat in one colour or a two colour stripe. Instructions are included for both.
This pdf knitting pattern has instructions for the following sizes:
Newborn, 2-8 months, 8-24 months, 2-5 years, 6-9 years
Use any DK (US light worsted) yarn on a pair of 4mm (US6) needles that work to the tension listed below. The hats shown here are knitted with a soft merino DK.
Hat circumference flat-stretched
Newborn 28-32cms
2-8 months 32-36cms
8-24 months 36-42cms
2-5 years 40-50cms
6-9 years 44-54cms
Tension
Stocking stitch
10cms = 22 sts
10cms = 28 rows
Separate detailed instructions are included to knit this hat either:
FLAT on a pair of SINGLE POINTED needles / or IN THE ROUND on DPNs
